Starting Out

WidiLand is a play-to-earn free-to-play game that allows players to cultivate a farm. It is a management simulation game where you have to command your plants, workers, and buildings. Well then, If you are interested in playing a management and strategy game, you are in the right place!

The game can be accessed directly from your browser.

You can go directly to the game’s website in order to start playing the game. You will need a MetaMask wallet and a WidiLand account to log in to the game. I assume you already have a wallet, so creating an account shouldn’t take much time. Immediately after logging in, the game will give a tutorial on basic mechanics, such as assigning a worker to a building and harvesting crops. You will be given land and three non-NFT characters. These are free, and your earnings will be very minimal at the start of the game. The free-to-play aspect of the game is there to incentivize players to try the game and see if they like the gameplay. If you would like to start earning in-game tokens, you will need to invest in NFT workers. 

General Gameplay and NFTs of WidiLand

If you’ve ever played any other farming game before, every in-game mechanic will be very familiar to you. The general gameplay loop consists of planting a crop, harvesting it, and assigning the harvested crops to a building that can produce specifically what you want. 

There are orders that give experience, and daily quests and achievements that reward tokens for completing them.

All three of these act as missions that can guide you on what to produce. You’ll want to create a roadmap that can help you complete several of these tasks at the same time by micromanaging your farm efficiently, since every task takes time. 

Farms and buildings unlock as you level up.

There are two types of NFT assets you can buy; characters and land. Characters act as workers on your farm and can perform various tasks under your command. You can buy a farmer, a breeder, and a cook. Farmers can plant and harvest crops, breeders can take care of animals, and cooks can produce food. Each character has a rarity that determines their value and efficiency. They can range from common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. 

There are six various types of land with different rarities for each; cropland (common), desert land (common), dryland (uncommon), forest land (rare), aquatic land (epic), and volcanic land (legendary). The higher the rarity is, the more expensive these land and character NFTs will be. You can find which crops can be planted on which land in the following table.

Wheat is the most basic crop and also one of the most important, don’t skip on it!

How to Earn Tokens and Invest in NFTs

WSO tokens have an unlimited supply and can be used to construct buildings, upgrade machines, and purchase in-game items from the marketplace. They can be earned from daily quests, achievements, and special in-game events.

Daily quests consist of missions such as finishing thirty orders, planting two hundred crops, collecting thirty bread, and many more. They reset every day at 00:00 UTC. Achievements are milestone tasks that are similar to daily quests, but they are not time-limited; they will be available until you complete them. Both achievements and daily quests reward WSO; achievements have a fixed amount that can be earned while the daily quest earnings are dependent on your Widian level.

So how can you increase your Widian level? You can buy more and higher-tiered NFT characters and land. 

Upgrading and owning more NFTs earns you hash points, and as a result, your Widian level increases. 

Widian level is a representation of your investment in the game. Therefore, the higher your investment is, the higher the returns will be.

Aside from WSO tokens that are mainly earned from in-game activities, there is also a second token that acts as a governance token. They are called WIDI tokens which is a fixed supply token that you can use to purchase land and character NFTs. They can be earned from locked staking, liquidity farming, and spaceship repair. Locked staking essentially gives you passive income. WidiLand allows you to lock your investment for a predetermined period and earn an amount in return at a fixed rate. On the other hand, liquid farming allows you to share your tokens with the community through a pool. A daily reward is distributed to participants that is dependent on how much they have locked initially. Lastly, you can earn WIDI tokens if you participate in an activity called spaceship repair. This is the main way of earning WIDI tokens daily, the game rewards you an amount of WIDI tokens according to your hash points, Widian Level, and a total amount of distribution each day. You only need to log in and claim them.

Tips and Tricks for Getting Better at WidiLand

WidiLand operates very similarly to a real-time strategy game. You have to manage resources, buildings, and workers efficiently to speed up your profits. You should always be completing achievements and daily quests to earn WSO tokens and orders to gain experience. I would highly advise against stocking up on any crops, products, or supplies that take up your inventory space. You don’t want to have a full inventory since it has a limited capacity and will cripple your progress. 

Only one bread can be made at a time!

Every part of your farm should be working at all times. You can plan ahead and see what orders, achievements, and daily quests that you can work on at the same time. Randomly planting crops or producing food will slow your progress most of the time. It will surely get harder to keep up since you will be expanding your farm progressively, but you should have a mental checklist that you are keeping updated constantly. There may be downtime when you are waiting for your cows to deliver milk or your wheat to grow. This is your chance to buy additional assets or manage your inventory.

Producing milk takes longer than bread but each cow can operate simultaneously.

Storage shouldn’t be your main concern if you are playing optimally. Before upgrading your inventory, I highly suggest constructing buildings and machines first since they are the final pieces of your production line. Also, buying extra slots on a building is costly, instead, you should construct the same building again. This will give you three extra slots.

Having one farmer for each piece of land and having breeders for cows and chickens should be your main priority before all else. This will boost your production rate and your Widian level considerably, allowing for faster development of your farm. Additionally, you should have an epic or a legendary rarity character before upgrading their workspace. Even though land and character rarities don’t need to match, using higher-tier characters provides more than the land, it also helps to have an upgrade order.

There may be similar orders that give different amounts of experience, beware!

Let’s Talk About Profits!

Achievements are long-term goals that will be completed naturally.

The jump from Widian Level 0 to 1 is huge. It unlocks additional quest slots and your WSO gain per quest will increase to 300. In order to reach Widian Level 1, you need to accumulate at least 1000 hash points. This is the total amount that is generated by all of your character and land NFTs. Common characters and land each cost about 150 WIDI tokens as of right now. Characters of this value give about 20 hash points, and lands of the same amount give 120 hash points. As you can see, it is hard to reach Widian Level 1 with the lowest costing NFT assets.

You can see each asset's stats and price in the marketplace, and calculate your total hash points before purchasing!

I would advise getting mid-ranged characters and land so that you can reach Widian Level 1 with about 4 to 5 characters and land each. This will result in a daily earning amount of about 300 to 400 WSO tokens plus 7 to 10 WIDI tokens. You can get your investment back at Widian Level 1 in about two months of daily playing.
