Volume (24h)CryptoBlades is a web-based play-to-earn, NFT RPG game developed by Riveted Games on the BSC, Heco, Polygon, OEC, and Avalanche networks. Riveted Games is an award-winning firm founded in 2014 and the team comprises four members, experts in gaming and blockchain technology. The game revolves around acquiring legendary blades and the mighty heroes who wield them.
Upon playing CryptoBlades for the first time, players start in the Plaza, where they can mint their first character. The element of the characters is assigned at random. The first character minted starts off with a beginner’s weapon and 200 stamina which is enough to compete in the first five battles. A player can have up to four characters at any given time. The player chooses the character they want to enter combat with on the Plaza screen. They then can enter the combat section of the game, and four enemies appear at the bottom of the screen after a weapon is selected. It is advantageous for the player to align the elements of their character with their weapon and choose an enemy that is trumped by this element. The players should also consider the enemies’ power before deciding which to fight. The game refreshes the available enemies each hour, and there may be times it is in the best interest to wait for a refresh to increase the chances of winning.
The player can spend a nominal BNB gas fee to enter combat against a chosen enemy. The game then rolls for the outcome of combat and records the results to the blockchain. The player receives two types of rewards when they successfully defeat an opponent, SKILL and character experience. The SKILL reward is dependent on the power of the enemy defeated. Experience is used to level up a character, which increases the character’s overall power. Experience is accumulated until the player decides to claim it.
There are five tiers of weapons obtainable in CryptoBlades. The tiers are rated from one star up to five stars. The player receives a one-star weapon which is minted when their first character is minted. Weapons, like characters, will be minted with one of the four elements (fire, earth, lightning, fire). Players can increase their overall combat power by forging new weapons at the blacksmith.
CryptoBlades utilizes a play-to-earn model by distributing SKILL through gameplay and giving value to player NFTs by increasing their use through future features. Players can trade their NFTs on the marketplace. Moreover, they can trade ERC-721 NFTs such as weapons and characters with other players. To prevent fraud, CryptoBlades have come up with an exclusive marketplace where users can buy and sell their NFTs. Players can also stake their SKILL earnings and receive additional SKILL as a reward.
Hello everyone! If any of you are a fan of dungeons and dragons style games, and you are looking for a web-based role-playing game where you can own NFT characters and weapons, you are in the right place!
To start playing, you need to go to the game’s website. (https://www.cryptoblades.io)
You’ll need to connect your MetaMask wallet to the game in order to start playing. Make sure to buy some SKILL, the main in-game currency, and have some BNB in your wallet for the gas fees. I played on Binance Smart Chain network primarily but the game offers several others such as Polygon, Avalanche, Okex, and Huobi. Gas fees differ for each network.
You need to have some BNB and SKILL tokens in your wallet to mint an NFT character.
For beginners, I recommend having 5 SKILL tokens in your account just to be safe. You will spend these tokens on at least two NFT items. You can either recruit a character and forge a weapon or you can buy your character and its weapon from the marketplace. Minting NFTs has a fixed amount of SKILL you need to spend, however, you may find that the marketplace prices can be even cheaper, depending on the items. You can buy items that are already leveled and more powerful too, they will be much more expensive though.
The marketplace offers many different items that you can buy with SKILL tokens.
Every character and weapon is an NFT. They can be bought or sold at the in-game marketplace called the Bazaar.
Each character and weapon have an element attached to them. They can either be fire, water, lightning, or earth. These four elements have advantages and disadvantages over one another. These dictate and affect the chances of winning a battle. Fire beats earth, earth beats lightning, lightning beats water, and water beats fire. (Fire > Earth > Lightning > Water > Fire)
Element | Wins Against | Loses Against |
---|---|---|
Fire | Earth | Water |
Earth | Lightning | Fire |
Lightning | Water | Earth |
Water | Fire | Lightning |
If you have minted a character, it will be level one with a random element attached to it. Characters gain experience after each combat encounter, and they get a power increase every ten levels. There can be a maximum of four characters per account. All characters have stamina pools that decrease with each combat and regenerate every five minutes by one point. The stamina cap is 200 for each character.
You can have an unlimited number of weapons in your inventory. Same as characters, a weapon’s element is random. Weapons also have levels of rarity, ranging from one star to five stars, and it determines the weapons’ attributes. A character can use all weapons, there is no level or attribute limit attached to them. You can forge new weapons if you’d like to, the outcome of minting a new weapon is based on chance. There is also a reforging mechanic which allows you to upgrade weapons by burning lesser weapons. Reforging won’t upgrade a weapon's rarity or its attributes, it simply adds to its power level.
Weapon Rarity | Forging Chance |
---|---|
One-Star | 44% |
Two-Star | 35% |
Three-Star | 15% |
Four-Star | 5% |
Five-Star | 1% |
Weapons have a durability stat that acts as the same as the character’s stamina, it recovers one point every five minutes.
You should be aiming to fill all four character spots and have as many weapons as you can, so you are able to rotate the usage of characters and weapons which will maximize your income.
Entering combat costs 40 stamina points and a gas fee. You need to select your character, your weapon, and an enemy to initiate a fight. Chances of winning are determined by your character's and your weapons stats, and elements attached to them.
You can see how likely you are to succeed under each enemy.
Winning earns you SKILL tokens and experience for your character. Experience levels up your character, and its level dictates how much SKILL you earn. Losing in combat doesn’t make you lose any experience or SKILL tokens. This means your only loss will be your stamina points and the gas fee you have paid.
You can see your expected earnings before entering any combat.
The outcome of the combat is based on classic dungeons and dragons principles. The character with the highest roll wins the combat. The outcome of the roll is determined by several factors such as the selected character’s and the weapon’s power levels and element types, and the power level and the element type of the enemy NPC.
Each modifier grants a 7.5% bonus chance that stacks:
If the selected character’s and the weapon’s elements match
If the enemy is weak against the element of the selected character
These modifiers can be also in favor of the enemy too.
Raids are difficult fights that feature a boss enemy with a random element where you team up with other players to defeat the boss. It generally costs SKILL tokens to join a Raid, even though there may be free raids now and then. Raids take eight hours to complete and use up all of the 200 stamina points.. Players can sign up before the fight to get prepared. Winning raids award items that are shared among the participants.
You can view a raid’s rewards before entering one.
The highest damage dealers among the players who have entered the raid will gain better rewards. Rewards include better quality weapons, lesser quality weapons that can be used for reforging, dungeon keys, experience points, and dust which is used to burn weapons.
Entering combat against NPC enemies is the primary way you can earn SKILL tokens in CryptoBlades. The amount each player earns is determined by how much time you devote to playing and the level of selected characters. You should be aiming to have as many weapons as you can with four characters. You should deplete your characters’ stamina pools each day. You will quickly level up your characters and the amount of SKILL earned from fights will increase gradually. There is an earnings calculator next to your selected character's portrait where you can plan ahead and determine your average earnings.
200 stamina points allow you to make 5 fights per character each day in one sitting.
This can go up to 7-8 fights if you are going to wait for your character’s stamina recovery. A total of 20 fights per day with four characters seems to be the optimal amount to create a steady income. I had four low-level characters which earned me 0.10 SKILL tokens per successful fight. I was able to earn 2 SKILL points in a day if my fights went well. Your earnings will be much more if you have higher-level characters.
You can try staking if you have to be away for a while.
You can also earn SKILL tokens at the marketplace called the Bazaar by selling your NFT characters and weapons.
Staking is another option for earning SKILL tokens. Staking locks your tokens for at least seven days and you can add more tokens if you’d like to without resetting the period.
That's it for Cryptoblades! It is a quick and fun browser-based blockchain game where you can earn a steady amount each day. I hope you liked this guide, enjoy your earnings!
