Volume (24h)The Sandbox is a play-to-earn virtual metaverse where players can build, own, and monetize their gaming assets in the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain network using the SAND token.
In the metaverse of The Sandbox, players can create virtual worlds and games of their own without a central authority presence. The metaverse aims to create a decentralized ecosystem by accelerating blockchain adoption to grow the gaming market. The Sandbox team believes that they can achieve this by creating a voxel (3D equivalent of a pixel) gaming platform where creators can craft, share, play, collect and trade without centralized control and ecosystem. The existence of SAND token, an in-game cryptocurrency of the metaverse, is a step towards this idea.
The Sandbox metaverse features three main products which give players to experience user-generated content; VoxEdit, Marketplace, and Game Maker. VoxEdit is a free 3D modeling package that allows players to create and/or animate 3D objects of any kind. Created 3D objects can be exported from VoxEdit and become in-game assets by using the Marketplace. The Marketplace is a web-based marketplace that allows users to upload, publish and trade their created assets made by using VoxEdit.
The last product, Game Maker, lets players utilize their assets, which were bought from the Marketplace or created in VoxEdit. Game Maker enables players to place and use their assets within a piece of LAND that they can own in the metaverse of The Sandbox. Also, players have the freedom of decorating their LANDs and assets freely; they can implement unique gameplay mechanics by assigning pre-created behaviors and characteristics to the assets through scripting nodes.
